For some, gang activity is something only read about in the papers or seen on television; for those who live in the east side of San Jose, gangs are an everyday reality – and problem.

Come learn more about the gangs in East San Jose, the communities they affect, and meet the people who are dedicating their lives to change it.

Learn why this is everyone’s problem and what we can do to help.

  1. Dear Patrick,
Could you please send your presentation on East San Jose Gangs to me? I will send it to the YES! (Youth Empowerment Seminar) Teachers who teach in the east side (Yerba Buena, Andrew Hill, James Lick, Overfelt).

My email is irene.yamane@iahv.org. Many thanks to First Thursdays for a highly informative, relevant event in support of our youth!

About YES! Students report reduced anger/frustration, reduced stress, improved sleep, and improved focus/concentration. Heightened awareness of the gang culture, names, colors, etc. will help to better serve the youth.
